FILM OVERVIEW

Matiu, a veteran haunted by PTSD and agoraphobia, is confined to his home after the death of his wife. The only person he sees is Yvonne, a timid student from next door who also struggles with mental health issues. When Yvonne's boyfriend leaves her, she stops taking her medication and spirals into a dangerous state. Matiu watches as she descends into madness and realizes that her life is at risk. Despite his fear and guilt, Matiu must gather the courage to step out of his safe space and save her, or remain trapped in his own fears and regrets.

Director Biography

Aidan Dickens is a New Zealand Indigenous Film Director of Māori and Pākehā parentage. He has written and directed numerous short films, music videos and promos, many of which have been featured in film festivals both locally, and internationally. He studied film at SAE Auckland and the NZ Film Academy, Auckland, and in 2018 he completed his Master of Arts in Screen Production at Auckland University.
