Australian Feature

Dir. Travis Bain

Runtime: 01:39:02

A young couple in tropical Australia is trapped in their beach house by three armed fugitives carrying a mysterious box containing unknown contents, and they must rely on their wits and cunning to survive as a severe cyclone looms.

Travis Bain is a filmmaker based in Cairns, Australia. Born in 1973, Travis fell in love with cinema at an early age, when his parents took him to see his first movie, Star Wars, at age four. The VHS boom of the early ’80s fuelled his obsession with all types of cinema, ranging from Kubrick and Lean to exploitation schlock.

In 1998 Travis moved to Brisbane to study film & television production, learning all aspects of camera operation, lighting, sound and editing. While still a student, Travis won awards for his short films and TV commercials.

In 2002, inspired by Robert Rodriguez’s $7,000 breakthrough feature El Mariachi, Travis began production on his own self-funded debut feature, Scratched. Scratched screened at the Brisbane Powerhouse in 2005 as one of the four finalists in the inaugural Australia/New Zealand digiSPAA Digital Feature Film Initiative, and also screened later that year at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival.

Travis’s second feature was the monster movie Throwback, which screened at a dozen international film festivals, won numerous awards and was released on DVD and Blu-ray worldwide in 2015.

In 2016 Travis shot his third feature, the crime thriller/neo noir Landfall, which is due to premiere on the film festival circuit in late 2017.
